The beta glucans’ ability to activate macrophages and prime neutrophils has been extensively tested in over 800 studies and has been shown to protect animals against otherwise fatal infections.
The table on the right summarises the results of various research trials. The studies were all carried out on animals, but the mechanism of action is sufficiently similar in humans for the conclusions to be persuasive and human clinical trials are under way.
